March 2024 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Supporters;

Spring is just around the corner and the time to enjoy the beautiful outdoors along with family and friends. The Central Downtown Food Basket is thankful for its many friends and supporters throughout the years that have helped our organization thrive through the good times and the bad times. CDFB is currently experiencing some slight tough times these days due to cuts in giving from various organizations and companies who themselves are having a difficult time meeting their own budgets.

To help with the shortcomings, CDFB has several events coming up including “Big Day of Giving” on May 2nd and we are currently working on two new fundraisers that I will update with more information in our June newsletter.  CDFB has also begun working with some new food resources that will be able to provide additional items for our distributions that will benefit families in and around the Sacramento area including students attending CSUS. For over forty years, no matter how dire the situation was and how many hurdles were thrown in our path, we never gave up and always found ways to move forward. That is still true today as CDFB continues to meet the needs for those households and individuals trying to survive in this tough economy.

We need some extra help! I very rarely ask for additional beyond the normal donations but, unfortunately this is one of those times. Last year we had to purchase a new truck due to our old one breaking down and calling it quits and had our 5x10 box trailer stolen.  Both of those incidents took a big hit on CDFB and now with the recent cuts in company/organization donations, we are looking for other ways to make up that deficit. I begin with you, our friends and supporters, who have kept us going through other tough times over the past decades. Your monetary support will help us begin to get back to where we were before. With your constant faith, guidance and support, CDFB will be stronger than ever!

May God Bless You and Your Families.

Sincerely,

Timothy Baumbach
