March 2025 Newsletter
Dear Friends and Supporters,
First of all, I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm and dry. Second, I know I have asked many times in the past, but The Central Downtown Food Basket really needs your help! No, we are not going to shut our doors soon, but as I have mentioned before I like to get ahead of any situation before it becomes a serious problem. This year has shown its ugly side already with many cutbacks in funding and food as well as many companies are slowing down on production during a difficult down swing in the economy. Since our food donations have decreased, we will have to increase our food purchasing and with current high prices that will put a strain on our budget. That’s why I am writing to you now, to get in front of this situation and solve this problem. I will also be working on a plan to obtain more food from various other sources in and around the Sacramento area and if needed to reach out to other counties. Sometimes you just have to adjust to the economy and get creative in order to make ends meet.
In other news, our prayers went out to those that lost so much in the fires that consumed the Los Angeles County. I knew there was a lot of help going to those areas needing assistance and wanted to know how CDFB could support the organizations delivering aid to people in crisis. I reached out to the Rotary Club in Folsom who was in contact with the Rotary Clubs in Southern California. They said there was a need for small toys and activities for the children that were misplaced. So, we put together a load of new toys, coloring books, crayons, stuffed animals, baby formula and diapers and delivered them to the Rotary Club in Folsom who then in turn delivered them to the Rotary Clubs in the LA area. This is another way that CDFB reaches out to those in need, not just in our community but others as well.
CDFB is able to come up with new ways to find food and to help others in need through your generous donations. Your continued support through this challenging time is so very important to our mission as we continue make strides and move forward. Onward and upward!
May God bless you and your families.
Blessings,
